That means instead of finishing my service at the end of August 2016, I will be staying until September 2017.
I’ll be working at the Peace Corps office in Lima as the PC Volunteer Leader of Volunteer Support.
Which encompasses everything from strengthening relationships with regional PC staff and volunteers to developing social media for PC Peru. It is a brand new position, so there will be a lot to learn!
The new position also means a 16 hour move to the big city of Lima! For those of you who don’t know much about Peru, a third of the entire population lives in Lima. Going from a town of 2,500 to a city of 9 million is going to be an adventure.
There are five current 3rd year volunteers finishing their third years in the Lima office right now, so when I start in August there will be some friends to show me the ropes. However, come November I will be the only PC volunteer in the Lima office!
It has been an amazing two years working in the campo of Cajamarca and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to grow professionally within the Peace Corps organization. Stay tuned for another year of blog adventures…
